The University of Southern Mindanao (USM), before known as Mindanao Institute of Technology (MIT), is a university in the Southern Philippines. It teaches about science and technology, especially agriculture and industry. Bai Hadja Fatima Matabay Plang, an educator and philanthropist, started the university. It began on October 1, 1954, and became a university on March 13, 1978.

The main campus, which is 1,024 hectares big, is in Kabacan, Cotabato. USM is one of the four State Universities and Colleges (SUC) known for excellent agricultural education.
